Position Summary

The School of Public Health invites applications and nominations for a full-time/tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor with research and practice backgrounds in areas such as health disparities: cardiovascular disease, infant mortality, diabetes, cancer, obesity, HIV/AIDS, environmental hazards, and cancer. Selected applicant will be responsible for instruction and course development in MPH graduate courses in biostatistics.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education

A doctorate degree (e.g. DrPH, Ph.D.) from a Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited institution; Earned MPH from a CEPH accredited program/school (if the candidate has a Ph.D. in an area related to public health).

Minimum Required Experience

• Must meet the qualifications for appointment as a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor.

• Must demonstrate a track record of scholarly publications.

• Must demonstrate a track record of extramural funding.

• Familiarity with educational technologies and innovative learning.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

None

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned doctorate with a focus in Biostatistics or a related quantitative science.

• Experience or expertise in developing novel and advanced statistical methodologies.

• Possess computational skills, including demonstrated use of professional statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS).

• Experience in the analysis of data using general and generalized linear mixed models.

• Experience working with large databases, spatial data and knowledge of SQL desirable.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach public health courses as assigned.

• Teach graduate courses in designated concentrations.

• Serve as MPH and DrPH student advisor.

• Serve on dissertation and project committees.

• Participate/contribute to various committees at Department, School, and University levels.

• Participate In community outreach engagements.

• Contribute to the acquisition of extramural funding.

• Demonstrate a track record of ongoing research engagement and scholarly peer-reviewed publications.

• Participate in curriculum development.

• Work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse student, faculty and university environment.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
